The best-known species of this free-flowering annual is linifolia, which grows to a height of about a foot, and is often represented by its variety Breweri Sow seed in March in heat, or without heat in April, prick off, and pot the seedlings. A suitable compost has three parts loam, one of leafmould, and a sprinkling of sand.
