BALM Flower

BALM

The plants of the genus Melissa, a hardy herbaceous perennial with aromatic stems and leaves, are classified as balm They flower in the summer months, at which period the stems should be cut off and stored for winter use Balm leaves make a good pot-herb and were formerly used extensively The plants may be increased by division of the roots in autumn, or by seed sown in March. Any ordinary garden soil suits them, but they prefer a sunny border.
